sEX buddies?

We’re all well aware what Throwback Thursday is…. but what happens when you want to Throwback Thursday with your Throwback Thursday….. Do you catch my drift? If not, we’re talking about sex with our past sex buddies. Come on Ladies! We all know it’s something we’ve thought about doing, if we haven’t already done it.

First, before you decide if you’re going to be Throwing it back or not, you have to think of yourself. Are YOU ready for a nothing-but-sexual relationship? Are YOU okay with what you’re going to be doing? Are YOU in control of the situation? A lot of women think they can get away with sex with an ex because they’re ‘so over it’. But truth be told, a lot of women are not really over it.

Let me just get one thing clear….HUMANS LIKE SEX. Just because your ex responded to your booty call DOES NOT mean you two are getting back together. You like sex, your ex likes sex, and you guys already know how to have sex with each other… That’s the main reason we have sex with our exes. I mean, I know it’s the reason I do. It’s so much easier to just call a past flame and try to get the dishes washed than having to meet someone new and showing them how you like your dishes washed.

Let’s get back to the YOU AREN’T GETTING BACK TOGETHER with your ex thing. Women view sex differently than men. Granted, there are few women out there who can completely disassociate any emotional feelings toward sex but most women can’t. To men, sex is sex. It’s in their nature to want to mate. Women seem to connect emotions to sex, leading to complicating a lot of things. Especially in just a sex buddy relationship.

A sex buddy relationship is really quite simple when you think about it. Two people agree to a sexual friendship. Personally, I’ve only had like two sex buddies, but for both of them we were friends who go out, have a good time, have a few drinks, and then end the night with sex. It’s nice when you two are on the same page of the friendship. Things get sticky when you aren’t on the same page. There are a few things you should probably discuss with your partner if you tend to be more emotional. For instance, are you two strictly sleeping with only each other? What’s your method of protection going to be? If you aren’t sleeping with only each other, definitely use condoms. The only thing I ever ask of any of my sex buddies is honesty. Be up front with me about anything and everything, and I will be with you. In fact, I’ve been so honest that I’ve upset some people. But I’m okay with that.

I’d also like to get one thing clear, it’s the 21st century. Sex buddies are a thing. Casual dating, casual sex, whatever you want to call it. Don’t feel guilty for being a sexual being. Be safe, always. Get tested regularly, use protection, and all that fun stuff. If you forget, there’s always Plan B…Literally! Haha!

The Modern Lady’s Favorite Brushes!

I’m obsessed with makeup brushes. Not only do they really pay off when using them to apply makeup, but they just look so fun having in your collection. You might think I’m weird, but I’m a cosmetic collector. Now, in the beginning of my journey I wasn’t aware of how important brushes were. I thought all brushes were the same. I was so wrong. It’s taken me some time but I’ve found my favorite brushes. Amazing quality and even better prices. Ladies and Gentlemen I present to you Morphe Brushes.

brush 2

You may recognize this photo from earlier in my blog posts, unfortunately something happened to the photos I took so for the time being, I’m using this. Haha!

Now, when I say these brushes are amazing quality I mean it. I’ve had one of the brush sets for a little over 2 years now. With some minor shedding, and basic upkeep I’ve kept them working flawlessly. Don’t get me wrong though, I did have to superglue two or three back together, but out of a set of 11 that’s not so bad. Especially when the prices are so low. The first set I bought was the 11 Piece Pro Sable Set. It was $34.99 and has lasted over two years now. I love it. I also purchased a few single brushes, those prices range from $1.75 to about $20.00 a piece.

The thing I love about Morphe Brushes, is not only the quality and wholesale pricing, but the shipping is super fast. I’ve ordered something on a Sunday and received it by the following Friday, sometimes sooner! Unless obviously, they’re super backed up. (ex. the Jaclyn Hill Favorites Palette). They also have a location in California, so if you’re in the area you should definitely check it out and tell me how it is! I’m dying to go!

What are you favorite brushes? Do you own any Morphe Brushes in your collection?

A Lady…

In the crazy chaotic world we live in, it’s easy to get so wrapped up in things that we completely forget about one thing that actually matters… ourselves! My life has been extra hectic lately. I had just finally gotten on a good routine for myself, and BAM! Life happens and messes it up. Of course, life’s going to be messed up for the next couple weeks but that’s the way it is.

One thing that I find to be very important is finding time for myself. Each and every day, even if it’s just 30 minutes doing yoga. If we don’t do this we can end up getting snappy and feel like we have a grey cloud over us. I know I hate feeling that way, which is why I try to remember myself. I try to give myself some time in the morning to relax and ‘wake up’ but then I start doing some yoga to really get my muscles energized. It’s a great way to relax yourself and give yourself some ‘me time.’

I know in my life and work life, having ‘me time’ is very rare. I’m always running on someone else’s schedule, and I have things to do. As long as I find some time for myself daily, I’m okay. If not, I tend to feel overwhelmed and I get cranky.

So next time you’re feeling like a grouch, try to remember the last time you took time for yourself? Maybe it’s something you should start doing. Or if you already have your ‘me time’ what do you do?

Teeth Whitening!

I love makeup, that’s a given. What I don’t love? Stained teeth. I especially hate stained teeth when I’m trying out a new lipstick. Being honest here, I stain my teeth. I drink coffee, I smoke, and I drink red wine. This stuff doesn’t help my teeth at all and honestly I think it’s ugly. I hate the yellowness.

It’s become almost an everyday thing for me to use Crest White Strips. I apply them before I start doing my makeup, after I brush my teeth. Currently, I’m using the Gentle System but it’s too gentle I think. It has been whitening my teeth, but my teeth aren’t sensitive so I think I can use a harsher strip. Another thing I noticed with the Gentle routine is that the strips seem to slip everywhere! So I’m going to be trying the Advanced Seal next.

Besides using white strips I’ve been wanting to try different systems. I’ve been looking at the GLO Brilliant Personal Teeth Whitening Device. It seems worth the money, but I’m going to have to do more research on it as well as other systems.

So my question to you is; do you whiten your teeth? If so, what do you use?

Lady’s Quick Tip: Apply Lip Liner Like a Pro!

Lining your lips can be one of the most frustrating things ever. I know plenty of us struggle with getting the cupids bow of our lip even and perfect. Luckily I’m here with another quick tip to help you with this.

Screen Shot 2015-03-04 at 12.10.26 PM

All you have to do is simply take your lip liner and draw a ‘X’ starting at the high point of the cupids bow. I like to start by relaxing my lips, then doing a close-mouthed smile to make sure it’s perfect. After you draw the ‘X’ slowly trace the outline of your lips, little by little, alternating sides starting from the top of the ‘X’ out. For the bottom lip, start in the center and work your way out. Open your mouth wide and connect the two lines at the corners in the end and you’re done!

Screen Shot 2015-03-04 at 12.11.05 PM

Your pout will be more defined and better lined! Give this a shot and tell me you aren’t impressed!

10 Tips To Apply Your Makeup Better

1. Moisturizer is key, especially if you opt not to use primers.
Personally, I moisturize and use primers. Some people choose not to use primers and that’s totally okay. Primers do keep your makeup on longer and give you a nice even application though. If you decide not to use a primer, at least use a moisturizer with SPF. You want to keep your skin hydrated and safe from the sun and the environment in general. Although I highly recommend using primers. Think of your face as a canvas. You always prime a canvas before painting it because it gets the canvas ready for the paint.

2. Beauty Blenders are a gift from heaven.
I used to apply my foundation with my fingertips, and occasionally a brush. Until I discovered a gift from the heavens above. The Beauty Blender. Using a Beauty Blender gives you such a beautiful, almost airbrushed finish. Plus, blending is so easy when you’re using it. It does soak up product, but I’ll give you a tutorial on how I use my Beauty Blender in the future!

3. Use a light hand, especially when it comes to eyes.
I can not stress this enough. The skin around our eyes is sensitive enough to begin with, it’s also prone to wrinkle. The rougher you are on your eyes, the greater your chance is for wrinkles. You also want to use a light hand because it’s easier to move product around that way.

4. Less is more you can always build anything.
This goes along the lines of using a light hand. If you start with too much product on your brush, chances are you’ll end up looking a little scary. Always slowly build color, because you can always add more but taking things off is difficult. Especially when you’re almost done with your look.

5. Look close and far.
This is why I use a magnifying mirror and standard mirror. You really want to magnify your eyes so you can really get that true blend. You also want to take a look and see how your face looks from a decent conversation distance, which is why I use the standard mirror.

6. Blend blend blend, until your arm is dead (another reason beauty blenders are amaze balls.)
I can not stress enough how important blending is, for face and eyes. Even when you think your blend is good enough, blend more. You want the colors to flow and you don’t want any harsh lines.

7. Brushes give a better blend than sponges.
This applies mainly to eyes. When you use brushes rather than the sponge tip applicator, the hairs of the brush really grab the shadows and helps blend them. When using sponges, it’s almost just like you’re smearing rather than blending. There’s a difference. My personal favorite brushes are Morphe Brushes. They’re high quality and super affordable.

8. Clean brushes = clean application.
This seems obvious, but some people forget. It’s important to deep clean your brushes weekly, depending how much you use them. Not only does deep cleaning get rid of bacterias, but it also gets rid of any color residue left over from previous applications. I’ll be doing a ‘how I clean my brushes’ post soon!

9. Foundation THEN concealer
People have been battling this back and forth forever. Just think about it, if you want to cover a specific area and you put concealer on it, then you blend your foundation over it, it pretty much blends away the concealer. You put your foundation on first, then pack the concealer where you want it. Then, set your face with a powder.

10. For a dramatic cat-eye use tape!
I love this trick, if you really want a dramatic cat-eye use scotch tape on the corners of your eye. I usually follow the curve of my lower lash line, to the end of my eyebrow. Apply your primer, shadow, and liner as normal, then slowly peel the tape. You’ll have a beautiful crisp cat eye with little to no fallout!

Remember, practice makes perfect! So practice, practice, practice!

Keep your eyes peeled for a flawless face tutorial I’ll be doing soon!

I hope these tips helped you out for better makeup application, like always if you have any tips let me know in the comments! I’d love to hear from you.

Rule to Stay Monday!

On Mondays I like to create a new rule, update an old rule, or just state a rule that we all know and is here to stay. This Monday in particular, it’s all about something we already know. Sticking to your word. Some of us may have forgotten how to do this, others might do it religiously. No matter the case, sticking to your word is something everyone should always be doing, not just ladies.

I can’t tell you how many times all I’ve ever wanted was honesty, or just someone to say they’re going to do something and actually follow through. We all know those ‘fair weathered friends’ who come when things are good in your life, and are gone when things are bad. It’s those same friends who swear up and down they’ll help you move, or whatever the case, and when time comes they’re no where to be found. I can’t think of one person who says “I’m really glad someone said they were going to help me and they didn’t show up.” No one says that! Because it’s not true!

Something we’ve all learned growing up is to teach people how you want to be treated. So instead of trying to change others, be the change you want to see. If you’re wishy washy with your plans, or as I like to call it “Better-Plan-Becky”, don’t make plans! For those of you who don’t know “Better-Plan-Becky” is the girl who makes plans with you but forgets them as soon as something better, or more fun for her comes up. You don’t like being ditched or when your plans fall through. You don’t like when someone says they’ll do you a favor but then they don’t. So don’t do it to other people.

If someone tells me they’re going to do something, and they don’t do it, I start questioning my friendship. Don’t get me wrong, once or twice is okay, I understand everyone is human. What I’m saying here is it’s those same people who make promises they break, the same people who break plans, the same people who just don’t stick to their word. Your credibility, especially with me, is severely impacted if you don’t follow through. I’m a big believer in ‘if I say I’m going to do something, I’m going to do it.” The type of people with the same beliefs on this topic are the people I want to surround myself with. Those are the people I want in my life. Not the shadows who disappear when things get dark.

The Modern Lady’s Rule to Stay: If a lady says she’s going to do something, she will do it.

BOTB: Benefit “Roller Lash” vs. Maybelline “Lash Sensational”

A Friendly Reminder-4

For the past few weeks I’ve been battling Benefit Cosmetics  “Roller Lash” and Maybelline “Lash Sensational” both of which are the latest mascaras from each company. I was seeing ads for these two mascaras everywhere and I knew I needed to get my hands on them. I was particularly excited for Benefit’s “Roller Lash”.

First, both mascaras applicators are fairly similar. They’re curved and they have fine teeth to grasp lashes. Although, the Maybelline applicator is chubby whereas the Benefit applicator is thinner. At first, I thought these two were similar in the way they made my lashes looked but upon further inspection I realized “Roller Lash” really takes the ‘feather effect’ to a whole new level.

L:Lash Sensational            R:Roller Lash

As far as application goes… that’s a tough one. Some days “Lash Sensational” was super messy and would flake, other days it would apply beautifully and not flake. “Roller Lash” is tricky, for instance layering. Sometimes when I would try to layer coats of the mascara on my top lashes it would clump all of my lashes together. I’m talking like I had 8 lashes total on each eye. It was terrible. I soon realized it was because I like to put mascara on both the bottom and top of my top lashes… if that makes sense. I quit doing this, and now it’s beautiful every time . “Lash Sensational” can clump when layering, but it wasn’t as drastic as “Roller Lash” in my opinion.

L:Roller Lash R:Lash Sensational

L:Roller Lash            R:Lash Sensational

“Roller Lash” claims to lift and curl lashes better is spot on. There’s no arguing that. Plus, I noticed with “Lash Sensational” my lashes wouldn’t seem as…. perky after a few hours. “Roller Lash” also claims to make the eyes look bigger and more open and in the side by side photo you can totally tell it’s true.

L:Roller Lash R:Lash Sensational

Price point is clear on this one. “Lash Sensational” is cheaper than “Roller Lash”. Obviously. “Roller Lash” retails for $24 and “Lash Sensational” is $8.99 depending where you buy it. I kept going back and forth with the winner of this Battle of the Brands because I honestly liked both mascara’s. It wasn’t until last week when I decided completely which mascara I liked better and which I think is better. That mascara is…….

Benefit Cosmetics “Roller Lash”

A Friendly Reminder-5

Honestly, as much as I liked “Lash Sensational” it didn’t seem to do anything that wow’d me. It just felt like a usual mascara I had in my collection already. I was amazed at how different “Roller Lash” was for me. It grabbed small lashes I didn’t even know where there! Not only that, but it really made my lashes look so full and feathery. “Roller Lash” is definitely worth the money.

Have you tried these bad boys yet? Let me know what you think!

7 Deadly Sins Makeup Tag

I originally saw this post on Dorkchops blog and I was obsessed, this was so fun to do. I’d love to see your answers, so do it!

A Friendly Reminder-2

1. Greed: What’s your most inexpensive beauty item? What’s your most expensive beauty item?

My most inexpensive beauty item would have to be anything I own from ELF. Everything of theirs is super affordable and works great! My most expensive beauty item is a hard one, besides some perfumes I would say my Naked Palettes by Urban Decay are the most expensive.

2. Wrath: What item do you have a love/hate relationship with?

Dorkchops had a great answer and that was false lashes. Besides that I would say red lipstick because you have to be so precise with it or it can end up looking really messy. Thank God for lipliners and concealers though! Haha.

3. Gluttony: What brand takes up most of your collection?

Easily Benefit Cosmetics. I love almost all of their products, especially their blushes!

4. Sloth: What product do you neglect the most due to laziness?

Probably false lashes. I know they aren’t an everyday thing, but if I could get them on in 3 minutes or less I would definitely wear them daily.

5. Pride: What product gives you the most confidence?

Foundation 100%. I like covering my imperfections and fixing whatever I can.

6. Lust: Which item is at the top of your beauty wishlist?

Number one is definitely Jaclyn Hill’s favorites palette by Morphe Brushes, other than that I want to get some Sigma brushes and some Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipsticks and Lime Crime Velvetine in Cashmere.

7. Envy: Which makeup product looks great on other but not on you?

Bubble gum pink lips. For some reason it never looks good on me, I look like a 3 year old who just stole her moms lipstick. Haha! I’m always so jealous of my sister because she can rock it like no other.
